My Relationship With Mother Earth

Preparing my flowerbeds outside my home requires the same process every year. The beautification of my property is reason enough to dedicate myself to the cause. I love the variety that flowers bring to the eyes. However, my portion of Mother Earth's perfectly manicured beds takes a lot of work to ensure it aims to please.
People drive by when I own such responsibilities, sometimes stopping to pay a compliment. It does feel nice to know what influence I have on the neighborhood. From my Lupins to the many variations of Hostas growing mature in their specified areas, nature has a way of coming alive. I come alive when all eight fingers and two thumbs dig deep into the soil, establishing my connection to Mother Earth. Relaxing mindfulness overcomes my consciousness as I groom each plant with love.
Gardening is a committed relationship that cannot miss a single opportunity. If I neglect my plants, Mother Nature, the environment, and the surroundings will have their way with its delicate nature. I watch them like a parent hovering over their offspring, knowing they need my protection from all things destructive.
Lighting is a necessity. The perfect placement of luminaries can heighten these wonders of nature at night. I use flat and directional lighting to shine lumens at specified spots. The moon does its job, but I adore a well-lit yard. The use of colored lights can add an array of interests for those who lend their appreciation to such displays.
Unfortunately, my flowers come and go with the seasons, and I have to accept the cycle of life. The hard work of manufacturing a well-established flowerbed is close to Heaven, as each tranquil time I finish pulling weeds, another bed of flowers outshines the wilderness.
I will likely be a gardener for the rest of my life. Or, the transformation of my yard will turn back time, and everything I worked for will look like an abandoned mess. Knowing I have the desire to beautify the world makes me a special kind of human being.
Be purposeful and plant life!
