THE GROWTH OF A WOMAN AFTER A TRAGEDY

Client: Amber Benton

The following illustration represents a commissioned project completed for a student of Antioch University Midwest. The image was the conceptualized idea by Amber Benton and used as imagery for her cover of the required dissertation for a Senior Project. Amber requested a tree that indicated branching out while remaining rooted in life. She also expressed the growth of women after experiencing trauma. I conceptualized the two ideas as one image and created the displayed illustration. Amber and our Senior Project professor loved the concept and illustration created.

Project Process:
I first used Adobe Illustrator to build silhouettes of women of different races and sizes. Once I finished the women, I illustrated a tree that provided a similar branch structure to the women’s body positioning. Adding the two elements together, I gave the illusion of this finished product.
