For Pete’s Sake

“Peter,” Jesus said, “before the cock crows a second time tomorrow morning, you will deny me three times” (Mark 14:30).

The Christian faith introduced humanity to figures representing spiritual awakening. Living without faith makes us vulnerable to uncertainty. I continually adopt philosophies that shape my spiritual beliefs and guide my intellectual outlook on life and death. Jesus Christ wisely chose His disciples. Peter led the disciples with a constant focus on protecting Jesus Christ and his fellow followers. He fulfilled his role in biblical prophecy as the first Pope of the Vatican in Rome and achieved even more by writing the First Epistle of Peter.
Jesus proclaimed, “And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock, I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it” (Matthew 16:18).
I have discovered a prominent church within my heart’s desire, and such faith is the rock upon which I worship the Lord daily.
Apostle Peter explained, “You also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ” (1 Peter 2:5).
My faith is a spiritual connection with God—a consciousness that enables me to acknowledge and repent of sin through the Lord’s forgiveness. I serve with heartfelt devotion to His cause. My priesthood is more than just a knowledge-based commitment to His Word; I put faith into action by living the lifestyle of a disciple and receiving blessings that reflect His love to others.
Apostle Peter wrote, “Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings” (1 Peter 5:8-10).
I am the structure that houses the Lord, a source of everlasting life. My obedience leaves me with no regrets to endure—like a warrior—David-like, a craftsman—Jesus-like, a loyal servant, Peter-like, instructing God’s Holy people with an unmovable stone.
Apostle Peter assured, “Friends, when life gets really difficult, don’t jump to the conclusion that God isn’t on the job. Instead, be glad that you are in the very thick of what Christ experienced. This is a spiritual refining process, with glory just around the corner” (1 Peter 4:12-13).
I stand atop my stone testifying, moved by the power of pure emotion, unfaltering in all that remains Holy in my experiences with God. Given His glory, I live blessed to be a blessing.
Apostle Peter said, “Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth so that you have sincere love for each other, love one another deeply, from the heart” (1 Peter 22).
Much like Peter’s voice continued after the death of Christ, I also long to share compassion through writings that show concern for Pete’s sake. I am a God-like figure when carved in stone, driven by a passion for what I accomplish in life and death.
Simon Peter was a man who chose to live and die guided by faith, crucified upside down, inspiring abundant courage in a world that needs the conviction that leads to our salvation. Blessed are the humans who know Simon bar Jonah.
